Grade level: 3-7 Equipment: variety Game Description: Here’s a multi-skills game idea, lots of skills involved (mostly basketball skills practice but could be modified) – thanks Dan Kirsch!
Grade level: K-4 Equipment: Lots of beanbags (or other small objects), hula hoops Game Description: A fun new game idea for Kindergarten to grade 4 students. It’s a race to see which team collects the most fish, but with some special rules (thanks to Lee Ruark).
Grade level: 3-8 Equipment: Cones, mats, 6 pins Game Description: Here’s an amazing game idea from Deric Hafer. It’s a Capture the Flag-style modification with a gold rush theme. Classes can’t get enough of it and keep asking to play more – it’s non-stop action that gets everyone laughing and sweating! It’s a territory invasion game. Very exciting and dynamic for a strategic and energetic Physical Education class! You’d be a fool to not play this game. A fool’s gold, in fact (lame joke I know). But really, after almost 20 years of teaching PE it’s 100% for sure a top overall game.
Grade level: 2-8 Equipment: Cones, hula hoops Game Description: Saw online that someone changed up Joe Defreitas’ original Home Alone game and added a teamwork strategy version. So I optimized the idea with my own students it, and here it is. It might be best played after playing a round of Home Alone the original, but definitely doesn’t have to be! Also a great Christmas holiday PE game!
Grade level: 1-8 Equipment: Projector Game Description: A 5-minute interactive and active warm-up/workout. This one has an adventure theme all over the world with people, places, and things of all sorts. Included fitness activities such as jogging, jumping, swinging, climbing and more. A Physedgames version to play in PE class!
Grade level: K-4 Equipment: Cones, 4 foam balls Game Description: Some students are dogs (they can act like a dog if they want). The dogs are trying to chase people away from their yard. Another fun tag game idea to try in your PE class (thanks to Deric Hafer).
