Sprinters

Game Description: Who likes to sprint?! OK, probably not many people. But in this game, the participants might actually enjoy it (at least a little bit). That’s the hope. It’s a very easy idea: on every blow of the whistle, players will sprint and even try to catch the person in front of them. Then the groups rotate. Repeat, repeat, etc, etc.

Collect Them All

Game Description: Here’s a teamwork and team-building game that you can use with any age level (even adults can play). Teams work together to collect as many balls as they can. Use foam balls, volleyballs, pickleballs, whiffle balls, whatever balls you have actually! It’s a quick and fun activity; and as always make sure to discuss positive ways to work as a team (decisions, words, listening, guiding, etc) as opposed to fighting, arguing, bossing around, etc.

Hoop Rollers

Grade level: K-8
Equipment: cones, hula hoops, balls
Game Description: Try out this new rolling activity. Relay teams roll their ball to see which team can collect the most hoops. Stealing is also an option (not in a bad way but a ‘fun’ way of stealing). Thanks to Emily Roberts for this one!

Bench Dodgeball

Game Description: It’s the classic game of bench dodgeball, at least I think it’s a classic. It might just be classic for me? Note: this game is different from BENCHBALL (where you try to get all players onto the bench – that’s not a dodgeball game, though it’s also a really good game). In this game, you try to help your players get OFF the bench. Mrs. Gracie at my school really likes to play this game when I’m away. The kids really like it and of course, it works on lots of skills!

2 Ball

Game Description: Here is Steve Mercado’s next game idea. It’s simply an amazing game. After playing, creating, and sharing games for MANY years, I think this might even be the best all-around game of them all. Involves lots of different skills, strategies, movement, teamwork, and more. You need to try this game, you’ll be happy you did. Thanks Steve!

Backboard Dodgeball

Game Description: Highly requested game of dodgeball. Lots of fun, and lots of skills as usual! Two teams faceoff in this fun version that uses the basketball court (full court or half court), thanks to Michelle Weaver!

Castleball 2.0

Game Description: Another winning idea from Deric Hafer. As a variation to the original Castleball game (one of the best games there is) the modifications in this game make for another super fun, skill-building, and action-packed game. Set-up the castles, choose the roles, launch the cannon balls, and build together. There’s something for everyone!

Cooperative Wall Ball

Game Description: Here’s a fun teamwork game. It’s very easy to play, and it’s great to use to for a fun cooperative experience. There are actually 3 ways to play, each with a varying level of difficulty. Start by asking your players to explain what cooperation means. And they will soon realize that if they work together, they will accomplish the task quickly and effectively!
