Knockout (Basketball)

Grade level: 4-8
Equipment: Basketballs
Game Description: Knockout is a dribbling game in which players attempt to keep control of their own ball, while at the same time trying to knock out other players. No double dribble allowed! If a player gets knocked out, then he can stand along the edge line and try to knock out someone else’s ball from there.

  1. Players start inside the playing area, each with a ball in hand.
  2. On signal, players dribble around keeping control of their own ball while trying to knock away other balls.
  3. When a ball is knocked out, the player must stand along edge with ball between feet (can still knock out other balls).
  4. Shorten the playing area as time goes on.

  1. This is a really cool lead-up game, but one modification that I plan to add is if a player gets knocked out, they must do some sort of exercise before rejoining the game. So the game can be continuous and players are engaged the entire time and not just out.
