Grade level: 3-8 Equipment: Hula hoops, skipping ropes, cones Game Description: Hoop It Up is a fun teamwork or team-building game with a good challenge. Score points by collecting hoops – hoop it up, scoop it up!
Grade level: K-4 Equipment: Hula hoops Game Description: This is a great 3-part progression that has basically 3 games in 1. It’s one of my favourites especially with Kindergartens. Gets players moving around and communicating/strategizing in different ways.
Grade level: 4-8 Equipment: Foam balls Game Description: Classic fun game of Sharks & Minnows but with added dodgeballs (thanks Deric Hafer for the game modification).
Grade level: 4-8 Equipment: Cones, footballs, flags Game Description: Try a few rounds of Endzone Escape to work on many football skills such as passing, punting, catching, and moving to specific spaces. Another fun game idea that passes the test of awesome games only (thanks Grant Johnson)!
Grade level: 1-6 Equipment: Cones, hula hoops, beanbags Game Description: This one is a new favourite. A little bit of a Capture the Flag feel to it – groups of pirates work together to try and steal the treasure off of the defender ship. NON-STOP ACTION, players really move in this great game idea thanks to Deric Hafer.
Grade level: K-8 Equipment: None Game Description: Great for all ages, super fun. Works on reaction timing. Use this one as an instant activity or a warm-up but it can be a stand alone game as well. You also don’t need any equipment either.
Grade level: 2-7 Equipment: None Game Description: A great game idea with no equipment needed! 3 different actions or poses: Gorilla, Man, and Gun. Uses the ‘Rock Paper Scissors’ format with a running portion and competition as well. Sure to get kids moving and having fun with decisive actions, movement execution, and chasing/fleeing.
