Large Group Wolf’s Den

Grade level: 1-6
Equipment: scarves (or pinnies)
Game Description: This is now my new favourite LARGE GROUP game. Depending on your space, it could work with 40, 50, maybe even 60 players. Not sure why I’ve never done it this way after all these years, but I will definitely more often use this when I have 2 or more classes doubled up. It could even be done outdoors in a large area and throw done cones to form a wolf’s den. I can personally vouch that I’ve had an awesome time with this game recently with different age groups doubled up. Hope you enjoy a ‘new’ version of an old favourite. And if it’s a completely new game for you, it’s normally played with the den along the width of the gym, instead of along the length (the set-up for a regular group of 15-30 players).

Red Line

Grade level: K-6
Equipment: Cones, balls
Game Description: Here’s a unique commands and directions game, with a ‘race’ and competition element, can be used pretty much through all the grade levels (thanks James Barton)!

Beanbag Battle

Grade level: 1-6
Equipment: Cones, Hula hoops, beanbags, container or basket
Game Description: A stand-alone game, station idea, or field day activity. Teams face-off in a beanbag battle (Thanks to Jason Rosenberg for this game idea)!

Taggers vs All

Grade level: K-6
Equipment: Poly spots
Game Description: Another fun wave game that has the Taggers Vs All in a competition. (Thanks Deric Hafer for the idea)

Sprinters

Grade level: K-8
Equipment: Cones
Game Description: Who likes to sprint?! OK, probably not many people. But in this game, the participants might actually enjoy it (at least a little bit). That’s the hope. It’s a very easy idea: on every blow of the whistle, players will sprint and even try to catch the person in front of them. Then the groups rotate. Repeat, repeat, etc, etc.

Collect Them All

Grade level: K-8
Equipment: Hula hoops, balls
Game Description: Here’s a teamwork and team-building game that you can use with any age level (even adults can play). Teams work together to collect as many balls as they can. Use foam balls, volleyballs, pickleballs, whiffle balls, whatever balls you have actually! It’s a quick and fun activity; and as always make sure to discuss positive ways to work as a team (decisions, words, listening, guiding, etc) as opposed to fighting, arguing, bossing around, etc.

Target Toys

Grade level: K-4
Equipment: cones, hula hoops, foam balls, items (toys, stuffies, beanbags, etc)
Game Description: Step up your rolling game in ‘Target Toys’. Or choose to kick instead. Just like the name says, players will target the toys and try to collect them. The team with the most toys wins!
