Dinosaur Prowl

Grade Level: 2-5
Equipment: Dodgeballs, scooters
Game Description: In this game, the T-Rex, Dilophosaurus, and Raptors are the taggers and each get dodgeballs. The Triceritops are the free-ers and sit on scooters. The T-Rex has to tag with the dodgeball (simulating a bite), the Dilophosaurus has to tag by throwing the dodgeball and hitting a player (simulating poison spit), and the 2 raptors have to work together and tag a player at the exact same time (simulating a tag-team takedown). Any player who is tagged must sit where tagged until the Tricertops comes around and frees them.

  1. I just wanted to say Thank You! for posting all of these awesome gym games! I played one of them in class last week, "eraser football", and my kids LOVED it! Today we're going to play "speedway" and "bag the beanbag".

Your amazing ideas and generosity to share are positively impacting the lives of others!

    Thank you!

    • Totally agree with what the other poster said! Your ideas make me a better teacher and I've learned to do things in much better ways to keep the kids more active. I'm a regular classroom teacher, responsible for teaching my own PE so your site saves me many days!!!

  2. Kids Loved it! The Velociraptor team is tremendous to watch because of the strategy involved. Once they figured out how to work together it was an absolute blast!

  3. Outstanding game... works great with scooter, too... I'm usually the Dilophosaurus spitting a ball at the kids... thank you for the great site!!

  4. I have to say this is the best website out there for games. So Ive been going through games as the years comes to a close and the kids love them. Dinosaur Prowl was a big hit and I even showed some clips from Jurassic Park for the dilophosaurus. The velociraptors was hard for some so I had one kid have two balls and then they needed to tag with both balls at the same time still stressing the teamwork aspect of the raptors.

    Love the site.

  5. this is one of my favs from when i taught years ago, and I'm bringing it back at VBS this year!

One addition- the t-rex can't see when people freeze- they can only see movement
